🏛️ Description
The Ministry of Mines is the key ministry under the Government of India responsible for the exploration, development, and regulation of minerals and mining activities across the country (excluding coal, petroleum, and atomic minerals). It formulates policies and programs for sustainable mining, mineral conservation, and the scientific exploitation of India’s mineral resources.
The Ministry promotes investment in the mining sector, ensures transparency through reforms like the National Mineral Policy 2019 and MMDR Amendment Acts, and supports the use of technology in mineral exploration and data management. It works to balance resource extraction with environmental protection and community welfare, contributing significantly to India’s industrial and economic growth.
