The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJE) is a vital arm of the Government of India responsible for promoting social inclusion, equality, and empowerment of disadvantaged and marginalized groups. Its mission is to create an equitable society by protecting the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities, Scheduled Castes (SCs), Other Backward Classes (OBCs), senior citizens, victims of substance abuse, and other vulnerable communities.
The Ministry formulates policies, implements welfare schemes, and supports educational, economic, and social initiatives to ensure equal opportunities, accessibility, and participation of all citizens in nation-building.

- Formulate and implement policies for social justice, inclusion, and empowerment.
- Promote educational and economic advancement of Scheduled Castes, OBCs, and economically weaker sections.
- Protect the rights and enhance opportunities for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).
- Welfare and rehabilitation of senior citizens and victims of substance abuse.
- Eliminate untouchability and promote equality through awareness and enforcement of constitutional rights.
- Implement acts such as the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act.
- Strengthen social defence institutions and NGOs engaged in community welfare.
