The Handicrafts and Handlooms Export Corporation of India Ltd. (HHEC) is a Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, incorporated in 1958 to promote and export India’s rich heritage of handicrafts, handlooms, and art objects across global markets.

HHEC has been instrumental in establishing “Brand India” in global handicraft and handloom trade, supporting artisans, weavers, and craft clusters through export linkages, design innovation, and international exhibitions. It serves as a bridge between India’s rural creative workforce and global consumers, ensuring fair trade, sustainable production, and cultural preservation.

A seasoned politician, he earlier served as Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Animal Husbandry, and MSMEs, after a long stint in Bihar politics.
