Birds Jute and Exports Limited (BJEL) is a public sector enterprise under the administrative control of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. Incorporated in 1904 and later nationalised, BJEL has been one of the key players in the Indian jute industry, contributing to the production and export of jute and jute-based diversified products.
Headquartered in Kolkata, BJEL was established to promote the export of eco-friendly jute goods and to support rural employment in jute-growing regions. The company’s operations have historically focused on the manufacture, processing, and marketing of traditional jute products such as hessian, sacking, and yarn, along with modern diversified products.
