The Cotton Corporation of India Ltd. (CCI) is a Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. Headquartered in Navi Mumbai, CCI is the Government’s nodal agency for Minimum Support Price (MSP) operations in cotton and for ensuring fair prices to cotton farmers while maintaining a stable cotton market and reliable supplies to the domestic textile industry.

Beyond MSP procurement, CCI undertakes commercial operations, supplies cotton to mills, supports modern ginning/pressing infrastructure through partnerships, and promotes quality, traceability, and efficient logistics across India’s cotton value chain.

🎯 Mandate

  • Undertake MSP procurement of kapas from farmers whenever market prices fall below MSP.
  • Stabilise cotton markets and ensure remunerative returns to farmers.
  • Carry out commercial trading, supply cotton to domestic mills and manage exports/imports when required.
  • Promote quality up-gradation, scientific storage, and efficient logistics.
  • Support ginning/pressing ecosystem and capacity building in cotton-growing states.

A seasoned politician, he earlier served as Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Animal Husbandry, and MSMEs, after a long stint in Bihar politics.
