The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying (MoFAHD) is a key ministry under the Government of India responsible for promoting the sustainable growth of India’s livestock, dairy, and fisheries sectors. Formed in 2019, the Ministry aims to enhance farmers’ incomes, ensure food security, and generate employment through innovation, scientific management, and welfare programs for livestock and aquatic resources.

The Ministry oversees the development of animal health infrastructure, dairy production, aquaculture, and value-chain modernization, ensuring bio-security and productivity enhancement across rural India. It also implements flagship schemes that improve breeding, disease control, market access, and blue-economy growth.

  • Ensure animal disease control, vaccination programs, and bio-security standards.
  • Encourage cooperatives, startups, and private investment in dairy and aquaculture value chains.
  • Support research, innovation, and data-driven policy through specialized institutions and digital systems.
