πŸ›οΈ Description

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) is the primary government body responsible for implementing national health programs, formulating health policies, and ensuring access to quality healthcare for all citizens. It oversees public health systems, family welfare, disease control, medical research, and regulation of medical education and pharmaceuticals in India.

The Ministry works towards achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) through its initiatives in primary healthcare, national immunization, digital health systems, and strengthening of infrastructure. It also manages emergency response mechanisms, reproductive and child health programs, and national missions such as Ayushman Bharat and the National Health Mission (NHM).

MoHFW operates through two departments β€” Department of Health & Family Welfare and Department of Health Research β€” to ensure coordinated planning and delivery of health services and research outcomes across the country.
