🏛️ Description

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) is the apex policy-making body of the Government of India for urban development, housing, and sustainable city planning. It formulates and implements programs aimed at improving urban infrastructure, sanitation, housing, transportation, and overall quality of life in India’s rapidly growing cities and towns.

The Ministry oversees transformative flagship initiatives like Smart Cities Mission, Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) to promote planned and inclusive urbanization. It also focuses on improving public transport, water supply, sanitation, and sustainable waste management.

MoHUA collaborates with state governments, urban local bodies, and international partners to create livable, resilient, and technology-driven cities aligned with the ‘New Urban India’ vision.
