The Ministry of Labour & Employment (MoLE) is one of the oldest ministries of the Government of India, responsible for the formulation and implementation of labour laws, employment policies, and social security programs across the nation. It works to safeguard the interests of workers, promote employment generation, ensure workplace safety, and strengthen India’s labour market governance.
The Ministry focuses on improving working conditions, promoting skill development, and ensuring fair wages, equality, and welfare for both organized and unorganized sector workers. It also implements technology-driven reforms for transparency, compliance, and better service delivery through its digital platforms and national databases.
