The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is the nodal ministry of the Government of India responsible for all matters relating to new and renewable energy. It promotes the development, deployment, and adoption of renewable energy technologies to ensure sustainable growth, energy security, and climate action in India.

MNRE formulates policies, implements national programs, and fosters R&D in solar, wind, bioenergy, small hydro, hydrogen energy, and energy storage technologies. Its initiatives aim to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and position India as a global leader in the renewable energy transition.

The Ministryโ€™s vision aligns with Indiaโ€™s target of achieving Net Zero by 2070 and reaching 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030 through government, private, and community-driven efforts.
