🏛️ Description

The Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI) is the Government of India’s apex body for official statistics and for monitoring major infrastructure/programme outcomes. It develops statistical standards, designs and conducts national surveys, compiles key economic/price/industry indicators, and disseminates reliable data for evidence-based policymaking. On the programme side, it tracks performance of core projects and promotes results-based management across the Union Government.

Through the National Statistical Office (NSO), MoSPI produces headline indicators such as National Accounts (GDP), Consumer Price Index (CPI), Index of Industrial Production (IIP), Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS), Household Consumption, Social Sector surveys, Annual Survey of Industries (ASI), and the Economic Census.
