NHDC Ltd. is a Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, established to ensure timely, affordable supply of yarn, dyes & chemicals to handloom weavers and their organisations. NHDC acts as the critical raw-material backbone for the handloom ecosystem, linking mills, dye/chemical producers and weaver institutions across India.

By aggregating demand and leveraging economies of scale, NHDC reduces input costs, improves quality and logistics, and supports livelihoods in thousands of handloom clusters. It also enables digital ordering, quality standards, and last-mile delivery through its network.

🎯 Mandate

  • Procure and distribute yarn (cotton, silk, wool, blended, specialty) to handloom agencies at competitive rates.
  • Supply dyes & chemicals and promote safe, standardised processing.
  • Facilitate logistics, warehousing and cluster servicing for uninterrupted production.
  • Promote quality, traceability and cost transparency for weavers and producer groups.
  • Support handloom marketing by aligning raw-material supply with seasonal and export demand.

  • Bulk tie-ups with spinning mills; delivery to primary/ apex weaver societies and SHGs.
  • Yarn depots & supply centres servicing major handloom states and clusters.
  • Digital ordering & tracking (mobile/app & portal), transparent pricing and invoicing.
  • Technical guidance on shade cards, dyeing practices and quality norms.
  • Coordination with DC(Handlooms), Weavers’ Service Centres and state departments.

A seasoned politician, he earlier served as Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Animal Husbandry, and MSMEs, after a long stint in Bihar politics.
