🏛️ Description

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) is the apex administrative office of the Government of India, responsible for assisting the Prime Minister in policy formulation, coordination of ministries, and monitoring of government programs and initiatives. It serves as the nerve center of governance, ensuring that the decisions of the Prime Minister and the Union Cabinet are efficiently implemented across all sectors.

The PMO acts as the principal channel of communication between the Prime Minister and the President of India, various ministries, state governments, and other agencies. It also manages public grievances, oversees strategic national programs, and provides leadership in national and international affairs.

The office is headed by the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister and comprises senior officers from the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, and other central services who coordinate the PM’s agenda and priorities.

🎯 Mandate

• Assist the Prime Minister in policy formulation, governance, and inter-ministerial coordination.
• Monitor the implementation of key programs and flagship schemes of the Government of India.
• Act as the communication channel between the Prime Minister and the President of India.
• Handle matters requiring the Prime Minister’s direct attention, including national security and foreign policy.
• Supervise performance of ministries and suggest policy improvements or reforms.
• Coordinate with states and UTs for cooperative federalism and policy alignment.
• Address public grievances and petitions received from citizens through the CPGRAMS portal.
• Support international engagements and diplomacy led by the Prime Minister.
