The Jute Corporation of India Ltd. (JCI) is a Government of India enterprise under the Ministry of Textiles, established in 1971 as the central agency to implement the Minimum Support Price (MSP) operations for raw jute and mesta. Its mission is to protect the interests of jute growers, ensure fair prices, and stabilize the raw jute market.
Headquartered in Kolkata, JCI procures raw jute directly from farmers at MSP whenever market prices fall below the declared support price, ensuring market stability, farmer welfare, and steady supply to jute mills. It also supports the modernization and development of the jute sector in alignment with national textile policy goals.
