🏛️ Description

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is the nodal ministry of the Government of India for digital governance, electronics, information technology, and cybersecurity. It drives the Digital India mission, accelerates indigenous electronics manufacturing, promotes IT/ITES growth and startups, strengthens public digital platforms, and advances secure, inclusive digital public infrastructure.

MeitY formulates policies, standards, and programs spanning e-governance, data & AI, cyber incident response, Internet infrastructure, digital payments, identity & trust services, and R&D through its autonomous organizations and missions.

🎯 Mandate

  • Policy, regulation, and promotion of electronics systems design & manufacturing (ESDM) and the IT/ITES sector.
  • Design and implementation of Digital India, e-governance platforms, and public digital infrastructure.
  • Cybersecurity policy, incident response coordination, and cyber awareness (through CERT-In and allied mechanisms).
  • Expansion of secure, open Internet infrastructure, domain services, and cloud adoption across government.
  • Support for R&D, innovation, startups and skilling in emerging tech (AI, IoT, robotics, quantum, semiconductor ecosystem).
  • Standards, interoperability, and citizen-centric digital services (identity, digital documents, payments, grievance redressal).
  • International cooperation on digital economy, data governance, and trust frameworks.
